Nothing tastes as good as victory over yourself. On June 22nd, SportAbility beat the challenge and accomplished our very first Scotiabank Vancouver Half Marathon & 5K Group Charity Challenge as a team. Not only did all of our participants finish their 5K and Half-marathon challenge, our team also raised $4, 255.00 collectively for our programs (as of June 23rd 2014). The funds raised will be entirely invested in developing our programs, including equipment purchase, venue rental, travelling expense and more.
As a first-timer, this result is extremely impressive and remarkable. We are very proud of each and every one of our athletes as well as our accomplishment as a team. Over half of our participants have reached at least 70% of their fundraising goal. We could not be more grateful to our athletes and donors for their efforts and support. If you would like to continue to support us accomplishing our $10,000 dollar fundraising goal, our Scotiabank Vancouver Half Marathon & 5K Group Charity Challenge Profile Page will remain available for viewing and continue to accept donations until July 7th 2014.
We will be reaching the halfway mark of the year 2014 in 7 days. The first half of the year 2014 was filled with nothing but challenges and surprises but this is just a beginning of something wonderful. The best has yet to come.
Besides tournaments and other programs such as the Sledge Hockey passport-to-play/ learn-to-play programs that are taking place in our province throughout the year, we will also be co-hosting our first Women’s Sledge Hockey 2014 Development Camp on July 18th – 20th. On the other hand, the Power Soccer Provincial and the Coastal Cup are scheduled to take place on October 3rd – 5th. Another annual event, Sledge Hockey Showdown will be also held at the Surrey Sport & Leisure Centre again this year on November 22nd. Be sure to tune in!
