After serving on the inaugural Board of Directors for the Cerebral Palsy Sports Association of BC (SportAbility), Terrie was hired as CPSABC/SportAbility’s first Executive Director in 1986. She continued in this role for over 25 years, until she retired in 2014. During this time and in the years since her retirement, Moore’s work as a National and International classifier has continued in a variety of sports, including boccia, para cycling, football 7-a-side, powerchair football, and taekwondo. Her significant contributions to the para cycling classification system is outlined on the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) website.

Moore was involved in the original IPC Classification Code working group in 2004 and was a contributing author to the first Classification Code in 2007. After attending several Paralympics as a Chief Classifier in various sports as well as serving on various classification committees, Moore’s work was instrumental in shaping the current classification rules in Para cycling and taekwondo. Moore’s years of experience with SportAbility helped to shape her expertise as an International classifier.

“As a SportAbility technical classifier I had to learn the medical terminology, understand the impairment and apply my knowledge of the sports technical aspect,” Moore explained. “My experience at the grassroots level helped me understand the impact of the impairment on the sport movement. “

Moore’s technical expertise and service to grassroots sport led her to work at six Paralympic Games from Sydney 2000 to Tokyo 2020.

SportAbility is proud to have volunteers such as Terrie who have dedicated a lifetime of commitment to developing para sport. Visit the SportAbility ‘Volunteers’ page  to learn more about SportAbility’s volunteer pathways!
