On November 21, 2017, SportAbility hosted our 9th Annual Sledge Hockey Showdown at the Surrey Sport & Leisure Complex.
The Showdown is a one-day tournament where teams of 8 fundraise and compete with each other to be crowned the Showdown Champions! Money raised from this tournament went towards the development of Sledge Hockey across British Columbia.
This year, 6 teams came together to fundraise and compete.
Final Results:
1st place: Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society
2nd place: HNA Sledgehammers
3rd place: Meadowridge Moose Hockey
4th place: viaSport British Columbia
5th place: Neuromotion Physiotherapy
6th place: UBC Physiotherapy
Congratulations to the Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society for defending their title and claiming the Showdown trophy!
Thank you as well to the Meadowridge Moose for raising the most money for the Showdown, a whopping $1650. In total from each team’s fundraising, as well as our silent auction, we raised $4555 for the development of Sledge Hockey across BC. Amazing! We would also like to say thank you to our wonderful volunteers and coaches, who generously gave their time to the Showdown.
We would also like to thank our amazing sponsors for this event. The Showdown would not have been possible without your contributions.
We’re so excited to see you next year at the 10th anniversary of our Showdown! Check out more photos from this year’s event on our Facebook page.
