On March 10-13, 2016, SportAbility will be hosting the Canadian Boccia Championships at the Cloverdale Recreation Centre alongside Boccia Canada and the Canadian Cerebral Palsy Sports Association. We look forward to welcoming athletes from all over Canada to compete in this National tournament.
Boccia was originally designed as a sport for people with Cerebral Palsy but now includes athletes with disabilities that affect motor skills. All players compete in wheelchairs – it is the only Paralympic sport with no Olympic equivalent.
We look forward to seeing our athletes in action – Be sure to come out and support them at the Cloverdale Recreation Centre!
The tournament runs from Thursday, March 10th until Sunday, March 13th. Check out our previous article about our Boccia athletes at the Parapan American Games this past August. Our BC Team competing in the Canadian Championships is being led by coach Shannon Sydorak. The team selection for BC can be found here.
